Heraeus Quartz North America has an immediate opening for a skilled Butting Lathe Operator to join our Cylinder Prep team in Buford, GA. This position is for 2nd (M-F 2pm-10pm) or 3rd (S-T 10pm-6am) shift. The primary responsibility for this position is to weld cylinders/ingots for processing within oven towers and to weld handles to finished preforms prior to shipment to our customer locations. 

Your Role and Responsibilities:

• Produce collar-cylinder, j-cylinder, handle-preform, and collar/J extension welds using oxygen-propane torch on automated lathe. 
• Operate wastewater treatment system. 
• Record data/transactions in QDC/SAP.
• Support overall production, including 5S program, and coverage for other cylinder prep positions as needed. 
• Wear and maintain appropriate PPE for hot flame envrionment. 

What is required for this role:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 1 year of relevant experience preffered. 
• A minimum of 6-months of manufacturing experience is a plus. 
• Demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism. 
• Self-directed and motivated with the ability to meet deadlines.
