Job Purpose:

Lead the sourcing function by supervising the purchasing team, ensuring the effective and uninterrupted supply of direct and indirect materials for both new and existing production lines. 

The role is responsible for building and stabilizing material sourcing strategies and supplier networks to support production ramp-ups, executing sourcing initiatives for new projects, and implementing systems and controls that guarantee material availability, cost competitiveness, and compliance with quality and regulatory requirements, in alignment with operational goals. 

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure continuous supply of direct and indirect materials for running production lines by supervising the purchasing team, monitoring inventory levels, and resolving supply risks. 
  • Lead sourcing activities for new and transferred production lines, building robust material supply strategies aligned with ramp-up plans and customer demand. 
  • Supervise and develop the purchasing team, ensuring clear priorities, workload balance, performance management, and alignment with operational objectives. 
  • Lead complex supplier and material change projects, including supplier transfers, dual sourcing, and technical validations. 
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), supplier negotiations, and sourcing optimization strategies. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, PD, R&D, Quality, Planning, Operations, and Customers to ensure sourcing alignment with technical and production requirements. 
  • Develop and implement sourcing systems, processes, and controls to ensure stable and predictable material flow for established production lines. 
  • Manage supplier performance, risk assessments, and business continuity plans, including dual sourcing and contingency strategies. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Engineering, finance, business administration. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing companies.   
  • Minimum 3 years in manager position. 
  • Experience in medical companies. 

 

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and writing communication skills. 
  • Advanced computer proficiency.
  • Proven experience supervising Engineering Level Professionals. 
  • Leading opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction. 
  • Strong understanding of cost modeling, supplier process controls, and advanced manufacturing technologies. 
  • Experience in managing budgets, expenses, CAPEX and inventory needs. 
  • Strong background in sourcing, supplier development, or supply chain engineering within manufacturing environments. 
  • Deep understanding of Manufacturing processes, variances and absorption. 
  • Proven experience monitoring Production plans and adjusting to changes. 
  • Able to operate and thrive under high levels of volume, change and uncertainty. 
  • Highly developed leadership competencies. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (MS). 
  • Proficient in using SAP. 
  • Proven experience monitoring projects and transfers adjusting to changes.  
  • Understanding of Catheter Manufacturing Technologies and Materials. 
  • Project Management. 
  • Black Belt. 
  • APICs.
