Position Summary

As a Chemical Operator, you will be responsible for producing products according to instruction provided, to meet customer specifications.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Measure, weigh, and mix chemical ingredients as per procedures.
  • Operate and control equipment associated with chemical purifications or reactions taking place during the production process and adjust controls to regulate temperature, pressure, or flow of liquids or gasses at times of prescribed reactions as directed.
  • Make necessary adjustments on equipment units affecting speeds of chemical reactions, quality, or yields as directed.
  • Read and follow batch procedures, work instructions, and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Record operational data and test results, draw product samples for analysis.
  • Utilize systems like SAP for transactions and retrieving analytical results.
  • Identify and escalate issues, providing updates to supervisors as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, to prevent overflow and other hazards such as fires, explosions, and/or spills.
  • Inspect equipment for leaks or malfunctions, shutting down as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, adhering to 5S principles to avoid contamination.

 

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required with up to five years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is required.  The equivalent combination of experience and/or education will be considered.
  • Basic chemistry, reading, and math with the ability to conduct measurements and conversions of measurements as well as calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and ratios is required.
  • Must be a self-starter with a high attention to detail.
  • Organizational skills, teamwork skills, and the ability to multi-task are required.
  • Knowledge of equipment such as pumps, ovens, stirrers, dryers, and tools including their uses, repair, and maintenance 

 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, one is regularly performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving of whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.  Must be able to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  Must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  Must be medically cleared to wear a respirator and pass a "fit test".

 

The expected base salary hiring range for this position is between $23.07/hour and $29.81/hour. This is a good faith estimate based on a full-time schedule. Base salaries are determined by various factors,

including candidate qualifications, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. Additional compensation, including bonuses or benefits, may apply.
