Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead site compliance and drive a strong safety and environmental culture. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, ISO 14001/45001 standards, and company policies while supporting continuous improvement, risk management, and operational excellence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead Environmental and Safety Management Systems aligned with ISO 9001:2015.
- Stays abreast of changes in laws and regulations and informs management about their impact. Actively contributes to the development, implementation and upkeep of operational control systems throughout all departments, meeting all legal requirements.
- Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies, managing permits, inspections, investigations, reporting, and compliance follow-up.
- Lead and support continuous improvement activities (5S, Gemba, Kaizen, PDCA).
- Advise production, management, and staff on regulatory compliance, process safety, equipment changes, and risk reduction.
- Manage internal and external audits, inspections, measurements, and EHS records.
- Support site leadership with HPS EHS self-assessments, compliance checks, audits, and management reviews. Serve as technical advisor to safety teams, manage EHS databases and KPIs, and participate in regional EHS assessments.
- Develops and facilitates training programs as needed for safety, environmental, education and regulatory requirements, ensuring all employees are adequately trained. Also responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining EHS policies, programs, manuals and operational controls.
- Investigate incidents and near misses; manage workers’ compensation claims and corrective actions.
- Lead and maintain the Process Safety Management (PSM) program, ensuring OSHA compliance with through effective implementation of Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs), Mechanical Integrity, Management of Change, operating procedures, training, audits, and incident investigations.
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field. Minimum 10 years of EHS experience in chemical production or similar industry. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- PSM or RMP experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and safety systems.
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to walk, sit, climb stairs and use hands to handle or feel. Occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. This person will be required as needed to wear specialized protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection and/or breathing apparatus.
Work Environment
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts as well as hazardous materials/chemicals. Noise level may range from moderate to loud.
