Maintenance Technician II
Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain a safe and productive workplace by maintaining and/or improving the building’s structure, systems, facility equipment, and process equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Perform to maintain a minimal to zero level of process downtime due to facility / maintenance causes or conditions.
- Assist Maintenance Supervisor with Hands-On Training & Instruction of Maintenance Techs
- Act as point of contact/backup to Maintenance Supervisor for Non-Administrative Tasks, such as:
- Assist in coordination & support of contractor work on-site.
- Assist with assignment & completion of Safe Work Permits.
- Additional contractor support, as needed.
- Assistance with work order priority & assignments
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that production equipment continues to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate.
- Inspect boilers, hot water loop, chilled water loop, air compressors, pumps, piping, air handlers, facility grounds, external structures (vessels, containers, etc.), and PLCs, and perform maintenance actions as needed, following daily checklists.
- Support the work order system as directed.
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
- Frequently collaborate inter-departmentally on a variety of tasks, such as project installations / upgrades, safety walks, etc.
- Order and maintain inventory/organization of parts.
- Participate in On-Call program.
- Additional duties as reasonably assigned.
Education and Experience
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience in a role supporting a manufacturing environment is required. A diploma from a technical or trade school is preferred. Experience with Automation & Controls, and/or Structural/Pipe Welding is preferred. Must have experience with three or more of the following trades: Plumbing, Pipefitting, Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Automation & Controls, Welding (Structural & Pipe) and General Construction. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Must be able to understand contracts and systems manuals as well as be able to read blueprints. Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a professional manner are required. Teamwork skills, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems are required.
