Summary

 

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for supporting maintenance activities which will ensure safe, efficient and reliable maintenance in all departments of the Vandalia, Ohio plant.

The Reliability Engineer identifies and manages asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant, utility, or business operations.  You will lead the mechanical integrity program of PSM and provide technical support to production, maintenance, and technical personnel.  In this position, you will support value analysis to repair/replace or make buy decisions.  You will develop engineering solutions to repetitive issues and other problems that adversely affect daily operations.  You will develop analysis methods to determine maintenance demands for equipment, components, and processes.

 

 

 

Essential Duties

 

  • Develops and maintains all utilities including but not limited to boilers, generators, HVAC, vacuum pumps, compressors, DI-water banks, process critical equipment, and facility equipment in accordance with industry standards and facility needs.
  • Responsible for like for like equipment replacements.
  • Must develop and ensure critical spares are onsite. Must maintain tank and business critical components list.
  • Develop preventative maintenance programs and routinely audit for compliance to provide continuous improvement of the program.
  • Conducts analysis of reliability problems, 5Y or fishbone.
  • Develop best practice for analysis of repeat issues related to equipment.
  • Supports Process Development in execution of Construction, Engineering, and development projects.
  • Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect the plant operations.
  • Lead mechanical integrity program of PSM , aligning inspection and maintenance practices with RAGAGEP and improving asset lifecycle performance.
  • Develop engineering solutions for repetitive failures and all others problems that adversely affect daily operations.
  • Originates and develop analysis methods to determine maintenance demand for equipment and processes.
  • Analyze KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, OEE) to identify performance gaps and recommend data-driven solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Utilize SAP and operations management software to support maintenance planning, procurement, and workflow optimization.
  • Asses critical spare parts, and support inventory control by continually improving spare parts management.
  • Quality assurance and support quality engineering with customer compliance and corrective actions.
  • Supports maintenance group in the case of acute problems and questions concerning design inquiries, material selection, and corrosion resistance.
  • Works with support staff to assure project adherence to quality, safety and environmental standards
  • Responsible for coordinating all activity related to fire protection within their respective areas and during project related work activities
  • Support HPS (Heraeus Production Sytem) and applicable lean objectives.
  • This position requires all onsite work, typically 8 hours per day Monday-Friday, day shift
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Ten years of site reliability engineering experience is preferred
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing facility is preferred
  • Strong work ethic required
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines as well as manage change and work independently
  • Self-starter with an attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to replace equipment required
  • An engineer with sound technical skills, analytical ability, high integrity, good judgment and strong operational focus.
  • A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • SAP experience preferred
