Program Summary 

A Co-Op position at Heraeus Medevio offers students an 8-month (May 2027-December 2027) hands-on, immersive, and project-based experience in R&D and Operations engineering fields. Engineering Co-Ops work under the guidance of experienced engineers to contribute to real-world projects in areas like design, testing, manufacturing, or product development. Co-Ops can expect to work on medical device innovations while receiving professional mentorship and industry exposure. This will be an on-site position in our White Bear Lake, MN location. Occasional travel to the Fridley, MN location may be needed. 

Position Summary  

Heraeus Medevio will have two Process Development Engineering Co-Ops based out of the White Bear Lake, MN location. Co-Ops will gain valuable hands-on experience with these and other processes, as well as contributing to process validation, test method development, and continuous improvement initiatives.  

These projects will support the development and validation of implantable systems. The manufacturing of these devices includes many complex processes such as coil winding and cutting, hypo-tube cutting, laser welding and ablation, and complex assemblies. These positions offer a unique opportunity to learn about and engage in implantable systems manufacturing for interventional and neuromodulation applications, which are fast-growing areas in the medical device industry. 

What You’ll Do Every Day: 

• Provide general support in the development and qualification of new processes and equipment to enable increased throughput or new products to be produced at Medevio production sites. 
• Support the development of test methods to characterize the performance outputs of the product manufactured at Medevio. 
• Assist with the development of processes for coil winding, polymer reflow, laser welding, and other various advanced assembly processes. 
• Analyze data and write technical documentation to support engineering decisions. 
• Support continuous improvement efforts to improve yields, throughputs, or cycle times for products manufactured at Medevio.  
• Participate in other process development team meetings and activities. 
• Respond to changing priorities in a timely manner. 
• Other duties assigned as required.  

What We’re Looking For:  

• Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineer, Biomedical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or comparable Engineering program. 
• Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. 
• Ability to work full-time onsite during the duration of the co-op. 
• Strong analytical skills. 
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. 
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
• Ability to work independently and as an effective team member. 
• Driven to learn more about real-world application of academic engineering concepts. 

Medevio is committed to providing competitive total compensation and benefits packages. The expected hiring range for this position is between $20.00/hr and $26.00/hr based upon the position and is subject to variation based on the number of years of school completed. This is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Base salaries are determined by taking a variety of factors in account, including, but not limited to, candidate qualifications, geographic locations, market conditions and internal equity. Our total compensation package for interns and co-ops may also include eligibility for a 401(k) plan with company match and paid time off.
