Heraeus Quartz North America has an immediate opening for a skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our Maintenance Team in Wilmington, NC. The primary responsibility of this position is to own the maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facilities to ensure optimal performance and operational efficiency. The Maintenance Manager will plan and schedule maintenance activities, manage a team of maintenance technicians, and regularly collaborate with other departments to prioritize and address maintenance needs. The candidate will also be involved in budgeting, procurement of supplies and services, and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance measures to minimize downtime and costly repairs. Additionally, the candidate will ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team. This position requires rotating on-call duties and weekend work as needed. 

 

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Directs and partakes as required in the installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of all equipment, buildings, and grounds necessary for the continuity of manufacturing operations and the safety of plant personnel.
  • Establishes and maintains preventive maintenance and service programs, procedures, and records systems in order to monitor and audit the performance of the services through the use of CMMS.
  • Develops, implements, and manages the maintenance budget including sourcing and acquiring spare parts inventories, critical spare parts inventories, and engineering and maintenance-related consumables.
  • Solves failures and problems through data analysis, experimentation, troubleshooting and collaboration with all necessary parties.
  • Establishes policies and procedures to ensure manufacturing processes, production data systems, and machine controls systems are ready to meet production’s needs and customer’s needs.
  • Prepares designs and specifications and estimates costs for internal or contracted renovations, modifications, expansions, or installation of plant facilities, equipment, and utilities.
  • Directs the activities of outside contractors in areas related to maintenance.
  • Creates, modifies, and maintains machine and critical systems SOPs.
  • Performs performance reviews and disciplinary actions and is responsible for making hiring and terminations decisions.
  • Operates company vehicles, industrial forklift, scissor lift, and other equipment.

 

What is Required for this Role:

  • High school diploma and 10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment required.
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field and 7 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment required.
  • 2+ years management experience required.
  • Direct experience in fused quartz, ceramic, or glass processing is a plus.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism and leadership ability with little supervision.
  • Exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written.
  • Demonstrated decision making, analytical and organizational skills.
