Heraeus Quartz North America, LLC. has an immediate opening for a talented Process Engineer II to join our Engineering team at our Wilmington, NC location. The Process Engineer II provides engineering support for production, support for customers, project management, and engineering design expertise. The incumbent will be charged with projects ranging from a few thousand dollars to several million dollars that require coordination across organizational boundaries. The role provides technical guidance and effectively interacts with the Plant Manager, Production Managers, Quality Manager, Sales, and others.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Assume technical ownership over process areas as assigned. Apply engineering expertise to stabilize and continually improve processes, eliminate waste, ensure product quality meets customer expectations, minimize scrap, and drive down costs.
- Analyze quality and process data to monitor the process, resolve quality problems, and identify areas for improvement. Effectively apply data-driven, systematic problem-solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, DMAIC, and PDCA to improve processes and systems.
- Implement LEAN concepts in assigned process areas. Support continuous improvement efforts though leadership of or participation in Kaizen events.
- Coordinate effective launch, industrialization, and scale up of new, potentially automated, processes and products.
- Manage and assist with capital projects from initial budgeting and justification to final implementation.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to resolve production and process issues.
- Provide technical support, problem solving skills, and technical leadership to resolve process and/or equipment problems.
- Cross functionally collaborates as needed to achieve corporate goals.
What is required for this role:
- BS required in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in manufacturing.
- Ability to solve technical problems in a systematic manner. Proficiency with data driven process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and DMAIC.
- Proficiency in project management.
- Proficiency interpreting prints and electrical schematics.
- Ability to effectively work in cross collaborative teams.
- Comfortable communicating across organizational boundaries and levels.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, Adobe, 2D and 3D Design, Minitab, Visio, and other technical software.
- US Work Authorization required.
